Yummy Rice Cereal

Otto ate rice cereal for the first time tonight. It was pretty cute to watch him. Andrew held him while I fed him. We laughed the entire time watching Otto's tongue trying to figure out what to do. He got the hang of it and quickly scarfed down about 3 tablespoons. Probably most of it ended up on his bid though. He had his own spoon for a little while and was "feeding" himself until the spoon fell on the floor. I don't know how any parent does this alone! It took four hands to hold, feed and clean Otto. Well, more laughs tomorrow...let the adventures with food begin!

Out for a Run

Otto and I have been running at Seward park 2-3 times per week. Luckily the weather has been beautiful, so I work up a sweat while Otto catches some zzzzz. If you'd ever like to join us just give me a call!

A Precious Moment

I just had to share this photo with everyone. Andrew had just gotten home from work and was exhausted, but nothing would stop him from snuggling with Otto and reading him a bedtime story. Such a precious moment! Otto is very lucky that Andrew is his daddy.

First Mother's Day

My first Mother's Day was quite a treat! It started with sleeping in and not changing diapers! Yipee! Then I was treated to a hot soy latte from Starbucks and my favorite, an apple fritter (not on the diet plan, but oh well).

We spent the whole day together as a family, which was exactly what I had wanted. We intended to go on a picnic at Seward Park, but since the weather was windy and cold we decided to have our picnic in our living room in front of the fireplace. Our little Otto was sure thoughtful to take a nap just as our picnic was getting underway! Hence the big smile on my face. : )

Otto surprised me with garnet (his birthstone) earrings and Andrew arranged for Auntie Adrienne to babysit while we went to dinner at The Harvest Vine. Wow whee what a wonderful day.

It sure was nice to feel special and be with my new family on my first Mother's Day.

Otto Meets His Great Grandmother

Last weekend we drove to Wenatchee with my mother to visit my grandmother. Can't believe she's 92 and still lives on her own. What a joy for me to see her holding him! This was Otto's second time meeting his Great Grandmother and I'm sure he was more aware this time around.

It was Otto's first "Apple Blossom" event, a long standing tradition in my family since Grandma Joan was an Apple Blossom Princess many years ago.

On Saturday Otto went to his first parade. We sat at the beginning under some shaded bleachers. I was a little disappointed that Otto didn't appreciate the horses and bands as much as I thought he would. He spent the whole time looking at a glittery dress worn by a young girl a couple rows ahead of us. I'm not sure Otto could see far enough to enjoy the parade going by. He did quite well otherwise.

The lucky kido also got to meet his second cousin, Amanda, for the first time. He loved her and especially enjoyed drooling all over her. Amanda was very good at getting him to smile and giggle at her. It was fun for me to watch them together.

We of course had to take a 4th generation photo, so here it is: my grandmother, my mother, myself and Otto.
