At the beginning of August Andrew and I took our first extended trip away from Otto. We flew to Alaska for our friend Frances and Ian's beautiful remote wedding in Halibut Cove. If you've never been I would highly recommend traveling the distance to a remarkable beautiful and remote destiny. We were dazzled by Alaska's beauty AND got to sleep in almost every morning. Ahhh, the pre-baby days remembered. It was nice to only have to worry about ourselves for a little while. Of course we called to check in on Otto every day so we wouldn't miss out on any new moments. His Grandma Joan was brave enough to watch him for us for the whole week. They had lots of fun with many outings.

Andrew and I took a private fishing trip and caught one sizable salmon. I won't say who actually caught it, but the lucky one was our guide who got to take it home since it would have been too much for us to manage getting it back to Seattle.
Andrew and I took a cruise out of Seward to get up close and personal with the fjords. The near perfect weather allowed for unforgettable scenery and the sound of the ice moving on the glaciers was indescribable.
In Anchorage we rented bicycles and rode for miles on the Tony Knowles trail in hope to see some wildlife (bears). Alas, we did get our blood flowing and heart pumping, but not because of any bears. It was a beautiful trail and I would highly recommend anyone taking a trip to Anchorage to include this in your itinerary.
