Auntie Adrienne is moving to California on Saturday and Otto is really going to miss her. She is a beautiful warm friend of ours from medical school in Boston. We will miss wining and dining with her, but promise to visit sunny San Fransisco in the coming year. Otto will miss Auntie Adrienne's snuggles, smiles and watermelon. We love you Adrienne!!!!!!
Joining the guys...Otto gets to hang out with Andrew's two great friends from high school, Uncle Ryan and Uncle Brian. I'm sure they will be a great influence on his life, planting seeds of curiosity for when he's about eight. Oh, no!
On Sunday we went to the Metro Mamas and Papas picnic at Seward Park. The weather was chilly, but the company was warm. Otto got to see his birth-mate, Sasha, who was born on the same day at Swedish just a few hours apart. I met Sasha's mom, Kari, back in February at a new parents group. We continue to see each other at our weekly meetings and a variety of other gatherings like this one. At the picnic we met Sasha's dad, Jay. We're all hoping Otto and Sasha will grow up to be pals.
Andrew finally graduated from his long pathway to becoming a family physician. His four years in medical school and three years in residency have finally earned him a Masters in Public Health, a Medical Doctorate degree and the training to be a board certified physician. He has accepted a contract with Swedish Physicians Division in Seattle and will be working on First Hill in the Jefferson Tower. Luckily we don't have to move!!! And he will be working a .75 position, which means he'll have 1 1/2 days off each week. His graduation was a grandiose affair at Salty's on Alki, so we all got dressed up. Otto wore his first tie and was a real charmer.
Yipeeee! Finally Cate and Brian return from their Ecuadorian abode for a month long visit AND lucky us, they are staying with us...brave souls!
Andrew celebrated Father's day with his father during a BBQ at our house. We really enjoyed our special get together and hopefully Andrew will always remember his first Father's day.
Little Otto has discovered his toes! He usually grabs a hold of them while on the changing table which makes for an interesting and sometimes messy affair. He likes to try to put them in his mouth and prefers the big one on the right. Yummy!
Our little muscle man is now doing some impressive push-ups. He loves tummy time and really works hard to get himself into the "plank" position. Once there he grunts, groans and drools until his little arms get tired. Then he either rolls forward and looks like he's swimming or pushes himself backwards. If I don't keep a constant eye on him he ends up across the room.
Otto gets his leg in a crawling position and sticks his butt in the air, but luckily isn't going anywhere just yet.
We picked our first round of strawberries from our patch and were amazed that we got more than the squirrels this year. We couldn't resist taking a cute picture of Otto, his new hat and our strawberry harvest. We'll enjoy their juicy sweet goodness, but Otto will have to wait until next year.
