This Bites!

Teething again? Poor Otto has been pretty miserable as his two top teeth are coming in. His toy basket doubles as a teething aid, everything does, for that matter. Chew, drool, fuss, chew, drool, fuss (repeat continuously).

Fuzzy Wuzzy Was A...

Ever since Otto was born everyone has commented on his big blue eyes, but not anymore. His wacky spiked hair gets all the attention now. Some people ask if I cut it this way, but on the contrary, it just has a mind of its own.

Opa, Read to Me

Otto shares a story with his Opa.

Where'd ya get those baby blues?

Ever wonder where Otto got his gorgeous bright blue eyes? Take a look at Otto with Grandma Kathee and you'll wonder no more.

Jellyfish, Octopus, Sea Otters, Oh My!

Since Thursdays are our family days we decided to take Otto to the Seattle Aquarium. We were also tipped off by Karen that Otto had a particular interest in Owen's pet fish. Otto really enjoyed the octopus, the jellyfish and the sea otters. Daddy's nickname for Otto is "Otter," so it was nice to finally show Otto an actual otter.
Otto also loved riding around on Daddy's shoulders and holding on tightly to his golden locks. Andrew and I especially loved watching Otto experience so many new things. What fun!

Boy Band Glam

So, Otto has been rockin' out with his pal Owen while Andrew and I are working. We entered into a nanny share with our friends at the end of August when we both went back to work. We love our nanny, Karen, and are very happy with our decision for childcare. Owen just turned one and is a good role model and playmate for Otto.
Andrew has Thursdays off, so he and Otto spend the morning together. I work mornings until noon, so Otto and I have every afternoon together. So far everything is working out beautifully and Otto seems happy.

A Great Day for a Dip in the Pool

Today was another beautiful day in Seattle so Otto took a dip in his backyard pool. He's working on his crawl stroke.

Aunt Jessica comes to visit

Hurray! Aunt Jessica came to visit. She lives nearby, but we just don't get to see enough of her. Otto was very happy to see her.

Otto Likes Blackberries

So, we're watching our neighbor Doug's house while he's away on vacation. Each day we go to feed the fish and get the mail. Lately we have been staying a little later so mommy can pick blackberries and I can pull a few weeds for Doug. Daddy let me try some blackberries today and they are out of this world! I could put hundreds in my mouth at once if just my mommy and daddy would let me. : )

Otto Goes to the Fair

We weren't sure if Otto would enjoy the fair or not, but we didn't want to deny him the experience, so we headed to the Evergreen State Fair yesterday with Grandma and Opa.

The first stop was the petting farm. Otto was a little overwhelmed with so many people and so much to see. He got to see ...

a rabbit, a donkey, a chicken, a cow, sheep, goat, baby chicks and a whooping crane but, his favorite were the pigs... (just like his Auntie Adrienne).
So, of course we stayed to watch the All Alaskan Pig Races.
We also enjoyed lots of tasty treats and some good ol' fair fun!

Otto's New Tooth

Thanks to Grandma Kathee we finally have a picture of Otto's first tooth. You can click on the image for an enlargement and really see it! It came in while we were in Mexico, but he's been saving it for this debut. His second tooth just broke through the gum two days ago, so you can feel it now with your finger. Otto is eating lots of solid foods now. His repertoire ranges from pureed carrots, parsnips and plums to Cheerios, crackers and homemade teething cookies (and of course all the breast milk he wants). The only food Otto doesn't seem too fond of so far is spinach. I guess Popeye would not be happy about this.
