BIG MILESTONE

I'm so proud of Otto, but feel a bit silly sharing this new milestone in public. Well, here goes...
Otto went pee pee and poo poo on the potty yesterday!
He's only 14 months old, so we're well on our way to being potty trained by 2 years.
Otto began showing an interest in the toilet a couple months ago so I bought an insert for him to use. Every once in awhile I put him on the potty and we talk about going pee pee and poo poo. We celebrate each time he sits upon the throne even if nothing comes out. Then he helps flush the toilet and we wave bye-bye to the water. Anyway, I guess all this hula buloo has paid off! Hopefully we'll have continued success. Way to go Otto! Mommy's very proud of you!

A Weekend With Grandma and Grandpa

Andrew was out of town for the weekend to a waterpolo tournament in sunny Arizona, so Otto and I spent the weekend down in Olympia with Grandma Joan and Grandpa Ron. Otto hadn't seen Grandpa for over two months while Grandpa was "wintering over" down in sunny Yuma, Arizona. So Otto and Grandpa had to get reacquainted, but there were plenty of fun activities to help them reconnect.
Otto and Grandpa pick up sticks from the yard together.
Otto catches his first frog!
Otto and Grandma ride the quad together. Grandma simulated the experience with sound effects and bumps.Otto and Grandma had an indoor picnic together.
Otto and Grandma read stories together.
We had a fun and relaxing weekend, but missed Daddy!

The Virtues of a Spoon

Otto hasn't quite decided if eating yogurt is done best by the magical properties of a spoon...or by just slurping it out of the bowl.
He's just so damn cute who cares!

Peek-A-Boo

Happy Magical Birthday Otto!

Today is one of Otto's magical birthdays. He turned 14 months old on the 14th of March! He won't have another magical birthday until he's 14 years old.To celebrate Otto took a bath and opened a present from Grandma Joan. Thanks Grandma for the new outfit. It fits perfectly and really makes Otto's blue eyes stand out. We also went for a walk in the neighborhood between rain showers and ate a spoonful of frozen yogurt. Happy Magical Birthday Otto!

Otto's First Trip to the Zoo

Last weekend we met lots of friends for a trip through the Pt. Defiance Zoo in Tacoma. It was in celebration of our dear friend Nicki's birthday. So, that meant we got to see Addy and Carter too!
Otto liked the beluga whale the best (he actually went back for a second look).
And we saw a walrus named "Joan" after his grandma, which come to find out is her favorite animal at the zoo. : ) Crazy!

Otto also liked the penguins and got up close and personal with the tiger.
She purr/growled at us. Yikes!

More Photos From Germany

This is the view from the apartment we stayed in Munich. It's called Asamhof.
A family photo op. in front of the Glockenspiel.

This store in the market emphasized selling every part of the pig. Otto takes a squeamish peek.

A stroll through Viktualienmarkt.

After touring the breathtaking new BMW World in Munich we all went for a stroll in the Olympic park.

A beautiful lunch in a guest house on the lake and then an afternoon stroll. It was gorgeous!

This is one of many beautiful views of Berteschgarten.

Cousin Patrick presents Otto with his very own pint glass. I suppose this is half of a half of a pint glass...just his size and filled with sparkling apple cider.

Otto enjoyed many traditional German meals, but pretzels were his favorite. Here Otto and Andrew are sharing a pretzel for breakfast.

A pair of traditional lederhosen for Otto. He'll be so cute this summer!

The Richter Family Tree

Our trip to Munich was wonderful and Otto was an exceptional traveler despite our chaotic return flight. Here are some photos that highlight our family vacation. A big thank you to all our relatives for hosting us! We really had a wonderful time and always enjoy spending time with you.
Here is a fourth generation photo: Andrew, Otto, Inge and Klaus. Inge is Otto's Great Grandmother and Otto is named after her late husband.
Here is Andrew and Otto with Klaus' cousin Max and his wife Angelika. Otto loved goofing around with Max. As you can see from the photo Otto took quite a liking to him! Here is Andrew and Otto with Klaus' other cousin Crystal and her husband Franc. Otto also enjoyed Franc's company in playing the piano, balancing Inge's cane and playing with a balloon.

I'll post more photos tomorrow. My little tyrant toddler has worn me out today and it's time for bed!
